Can you introduce yourself and tell us a bit about your background?
Holly Honest an international versatile music sensational artist. And 7 times Nominated Artist 2023 and Award winning singer.
How did you get started in your career?
I met Kenyan legendary artist "Filter" from the Wakimbizi Family music group, who introduced me to a legendary producer from Ogopa Deejays. After freestyling and singing, Filter invited me to visit him at the studio, where I made a hit called "Bombastic". Raqael Wachira, DJ TotoFace, DJ Byser, Rajyz the Deejay, Becky vixen 254 and DJ Dj Jr-Kaka Empire were also involved in the project. Am now a branded international artist with three albums, one mixtape and 33 singles.
What has been the highlight of your career so far?
I have performed with a variety of artists, including Rekado Banks, Churchill and Willis Raburu, Tanasha Donna Oketch, Harmonize, Tray Songz, Eddy Gathegi, Bibiana and Mr G, Shububu and the Band, and Raqael Wachira. I also made it through the pandemic, met Jackie Chandiru, won my first music award, shut down Ngara desai full house show with DJ TotoFace and DJ lifestyle, and met Bibiana and Mr G.
What are some of the challenges you faced along the way, and how did you overcome them?
From the beginning it was Pressure and material things Women, drugs and alcohol. As an artist I focus on understanding my values and who I am as a person in order to be successful and live a normal life.
Are there any particular projects or roles that have been especially meaningful to you?
Yes. The most important details are that i was Nominated as Promising Personality of the Year, Human Rights Activist and Humanitarian of the Year-2023 in Ghana @ayt_achieversawards, and also when i released my first music album and mixtape with Rajyz thee Deejay. Additionally, i was Nominated in the country 3 times by E360awards.
What is your biggest accomplishment that you're most proud of?
Life. I am proud of being a beacon of hope, love, humanity and inspiration to peers across the region.
Who or what has been your biggest inspiration?
Holly Honest, I am my own inspiration because I am inspired by love, passion, God, talent, knowledge, and wisdom. I also listen to music icons to gain additional inspiration.
What keeps you motivated in your work?
Failure. I have been failing since I was young, and some people wonder if I am going to blow up. However, they keep trying no matter what, and even when I fail, I try again. This has made my personal life less enjoyable and loving, as women may not find me attractive.
How do you handle criticism and setbacks?
Well, I have been through drama from 2020 Naifest to Bibiana saga to GUCHI saga, battles with promoters, wars with Nigeria artists and many more but you wonder how I cop up, it's because I smile at people who criticize me, which is healthy and makes me happy. I keep on trying until I reach the finish line and be given a trophy.
How do you balance your personal life with your career?
I manage myself well, make my own timetable and follow it, and stay organized and prepared to stay healthy. I don't put myself under too much pressure.
What do you like to do in your free time?
Watch a documentaries and sleeping. Plus, humanitarian work with community based organizations
Is there a particular hobby or interest that you enjoy outside of your work?
Yes. Let me say visiting my best friend dj Totoface and spend a lot of time together doing activities such as watching movies, listening to music, drinking whiskey, reading and writing, and planting trees and flowers. We also do a lot of research on current affairs and music.
What advice would you give to aspiring individuals who want to pursue a career similar to yours?
Time and patience: time comes and goes, but talent stays with you, and that poverty can lead to risk behaviors. Additionally, some young people swallow things bigger than their sore throat can take and end up losing their lives or in prisons due to poverty. This has been seen in the USA, UK and many countries, where rappers have been killed or jailed due to the same issue.
Mental health is important, as well as professionalism and discipline. Respect others, be organized, humble, professional, respectful, and work on your craft. Don't stop making music, as success comes from prepared people.so be ready, make music never stop don't stop make music anytime you get a chance make music.
What upcoming projects or ventures are you excited about?
My 4th album is coming soon Best of Holly Honest 2023 mixtape, Music videos and Merchandises coming soon.
Where do you see yourself in the future, both personally and professionally?
To have a serious relationship, own businesses, sign with global music companies, have Canadian, Kenyan and Ugandan citizenship, start a business empire, and build schools and hospitals.
