On Thursday, April 27, pastor Ezekiel Odero of New International Life Church in Kilifi was detained on suspicion of being pastor Paul Mackenzie's collaborator in the Shakahola massacre.

Coast Regional Commissioner Onyancha confirmed the arrest and confirmed that Odero's church was closed during a press conference.
