President Ruto orders school re-opening date be postponed

For now, President William Ruto has decided to delay the start of the second term of classes.Ruto issued the order, directing the Ministry of Education to make sure that the schools stay closed because of the current floods that are wreaking devastation around the nation.Speaking on Friday, May 3, at the national address at State House in Nairobi, Ruto stated that the government will provide more guidance on the reopening after keeping an eye on the flooding situation."The Ministry of Education is directed to postpone the dates of reopening of all schools in the country for the second term until further notice," said Ruto.This occurs just hours after Ezekiel Machogu, the cabinet secretary for education, released reopening guidelines.The second term's scheduled reopening of schools was delayed until May 29 from April 29.
